New russian cruise missile - izdelie 506 / Kh-BD

A few days ago, state tests of a new cruise missile could be completed. GosMKB "Raduga" from 2013 was developed new strategic cruise missile according OKR "Romance" (development project). As we understand now this is missile "izdelie 506".

In 2016 began work on a component of the carrier for new missile - project "506-Tu". This can be the equipment complex of the future missile carrier - this can be Tu-160M (70M). As of 2017, the following test program for "izdelie 506" is planned: 
- first flying tests starting from 31.01.2018
- fullfill flight tests starting from 31.05.2018
- state tests from 28.02.2019 to 30.11.2020

On February 23, 2017, the scientific director of GosNIIAS, Evgeny Fedosov, said in an interview that the project of the modernized Tu-160M2 aircraft included a promising long-range cruise missile (code name X-BD). Based on this, it can be assumed that as of 2017, work is underway to formulate requirements and determine the appearance of a new rocket. The range of the new missile will significantly exceed 3000 km - the range of the Kh-101.

According to Fedosov: "Today, a concept has emerged: do not introduce long-range aircraft into the enemy's air defense zone. It (the carrier aircraft) must work outside this zone, and the weapon enters the zone. If such an aircraft carries a lot of weapons, then the information principle starts working again Degradation at enemy air defense. Without entering the enemy air defense zone, but by launching a missile there, we dictate the direction of the strike, moment and density. And if you reconnoitre the enemy air defense well, then we will always find a bottleneck and throw a grouping into this throat. about a strategic nuclear strike, then at least one missile will always pass. And that will be enough ".

The rocket power system uses two types of batteries - chemical thermal HIT-715 developed and manufactured by ZAO NIIHIT-2 and 9I-1550 developed and manufactured by NPP Kvant.

Control system and guidance - probably the Kh-BD will be equipped with an inertial control system using on-board computers with correction according to digital reference maps of flight correction areas using data from a laser (optoelectronic) altimeter or an optical image of the terrain. In the final phase of the flight, an optical or radar correlation seeker may be used.

The engine of missile is a small-sized turbojet engine "izdelie 37B" developed and manufactured by Saturn corporation. Fuel - kerosene TS-1, Decilin and Decilin-M (the main type of fuel). Probably, missiles with different combat equipment use different types of fuel.

Data of missile:
Length - less than 10 m
Case diameter - no more than 0.8 m
Operating range - more than 3000 km (presumably at least 5000 km)
Flight speed - less than 1M

Combat equipment: a conventional warhead for a rocket is being developed by GosNIIMash. According to the annual report of GosNIImash for 2016, working design documentation, production of materiel and testing of the BS-506 warhead are being developed.

We don't have any other information now but thinking that in the nearest future we all will know more about this interesting and secret missile.
